| NOTE:Spring Quarterly Meeting Postponement. Quarterly Area Meeting FROM April 18 to a new date of MAY 16. The meeting facilities were not available for the April date. The meeting will occur on Saturday May 16th at 1:30 pm at the Family Life Center of the 2nd Ponce de Leon Church. 2. Agenda Issues: Question: should the meeting date be moved from the 3rd Saturday of January, April, July and October to other dates. Some officers and group reps are having difficulty with the "3rd Saturday", so other suggestions will be welcomed. Question: would anyone like to propose other locations for area meetings? Even rotation of meeting locations from one meeting to the next? We are hopeful of encouraging participation from all groups regardless of their location in the State. Question: does anyone have a topic or suggestion for activities or educational programs. For example, in the past there has been a picnic, and recently a seminar was conducted on the 'Faces of Sponsorship" which was very well received. Millie suggested "How to conduct a group conscious" as a possible workshop. March 14, 2009 - Saturday : 1:30 pm "The Faces of Sponsorship" Open Location: 2nd Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, 76 East Wesley Road, NE, Atlanta, GA. 30305 Family Center (behind the main church)* To many of us the word NarAnon means “sharing.” There is strength in the support, experience, and encouragement which we find in our meetings. Come learn about the potentials in sponsorship relationships and behavior. There will be a panel and light refreshments.Everyone welcome. Quarterly meeting scheduled January 24 2009 1:30 pm The next meeting will be on 24 JANUARY 2009 AT 1:30 P.M. SECOND PONCE de LEON BAPTIST CHURCH, FAMILY CENTER. Disscussions: Group reports Educational session planning program for 7 February 2009 alternative date of 21 Feburary 2009. Lyn and Franci are to make plans for this education program. Area Meetings TIME - In order to shorten the time of the Area meetings, it was suggested that all reports, minutes, treasurers report, website report, hotline, nominations and acceptance of same, be sent out prior to this meeting to keep the business session to a reasonable length of time. GUIDELINE to be ratified by (after discussion in all groups) at the January Meeting. Each group shall have a designated representative who will attend and vote on matters brought before the Area meetings. Should this representative be unable to attend, an alternate can be appointed, but the Area chairperson needs to be notified of who will be coming in the representatives place. More than one person from each group can attend the Area meeting, but there is to be one vote only for each group. In order to be in good standing at Area meetings the following needs to be adhered to: 1) The group representative or alternate must attend two (2) out of four (4) quart- erly meetings in order to be eligible to vote. 2) The group needs to make quarterly monetary contributions to the area as deter- mined by the Treasurer. EACH GROUP IS ASKED TO DISCUSS THIS AT THEIR MEETINGS AND BE PREPARED TO RATIFY THIS GUIDELINE AT THE JANUARY MEETING. Nomination and election of someone to replace current position as secretary. The step study group is open to any Nar-Anon member who wishes to attend one week or all 12. The Nar-Anon Family Group is not affliated with any outside enterprises and neither endorses or opposes any causes. Our primary spritual aim is to recover from the devastating effect that addiction has had on our lives by practicing the 12 Steps ourselves, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of addicts and carrying the message to others. Anyone may join us regrdless of age, race or sexual oreintation, the only requirement is that there be a problem of addiction in a relative or friend. If you are interested in how since 12 Step recovery works, please join us. Here's a sample.... One of the primary reasons that taking the first step was possible, was the first word of recovery. Do you know what that word is? The first word of recovery is "We" that's you and me, because you had already admitted you had a problem so could I.
